CPO scientist Laura Petes has been named an Ecological Society of America Early Career Fellow. Dr. Petes was inducted as an ESA Early Career Fellow earlier this month.
Three CPO staff members–Rick Rosen, Roger Pulwarty, and Nancy Beller-Simms–were among the 20 scientists from NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research to be recognized with a 2014 NOAA Administrator’s Award.
CPO’s Laura Petes is the lead author of “Science integration into U.S. climate and ocean policy,” which appeared in the August issue of Nature Climate Change.
An article co-written by CPO’s Melissa Kenney, Nancy Bellar-Simms, and Claudi Nierenberg has been published in the August issue of Nature Climate Change. The article — “From global change science to action with social sciences” — focuses on U.S. efforts to integrate social and biophysical sciences to address the issue of global change.

NOAA’s Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program has released its 2013 Annual Meeting Report. The report provides a summary of insights and outcomes from the meeting, which involved knowledge transfer around research themes as well as a discussion of the practice of user-driven research.
For over 15 years, NOAA’s Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program has been supporting research teams that conduct interdisciplinary and regionally relevant research to inform resource management, planning’ and public policy. The program’s new 2013 Annual Meeting Report provides a summary of insights and outcomes from the meeting which involved knowledge transfer around research themes, as well as a discussion of the practice of user-driven research.
