A Focus on Water Resources

Throughout our history and especially in the last decade, the CSI Division has designed and led a number of activities directed at resilience in the water resource realm, building upon and expanding the impact of our grants investments. Our unique interdisciplinary perspective, coming from the NOAA Climate Program Office, is targeted at the intersection of (a) new climatological and meteorological findings, forecasts, and facts and (b) people and their use of NOAA products and services for decision making related to risk management, adaptation to future events, and anticipated growth.

Our focus and resulting work on too much; too little; and the quality of water, has been enhanced by working directly with researchers, decision makers such as water utility managers, scientists, and intermediary organizations that represent needs of disparate users of climate information. Our efforts include a focus on water equity issues in order to provide everyone with the opportunity to have clean, safe, affordable drinking water and wastewater services. Listed below are recent water-focused special studies and foci of this Division.
