Event date: 6/4/2021 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Export event

On June 4 from 11am-12pm ET, the Climate Change Impacts Annex (Annex 9) of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, which includes representatives from CPO’s Water Resources Risk Team (WaRT), will host the fifth webinar from its new webinar series. The Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments (GLISA), a CPO Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) team, will present results from the 2021 Great Lakes Climate Modeling Workshop.

The virtual workshop brought together climate modelers, translators, and information users to advance the state of climate modeling, translation, and integration into climate adaptation efforts across the Great Lakes region. Notable NOAA speakers included Jennifer Day (GLERL), Drew Gronewold (former GLERL), John Lanzante (GFDL), Sarah Kapnick (GFDL), and Ned Gardiner (CPO).

During the webinar, GLISA's Laura Briley, Climatologist, and Dr. Jenna Jorns, Program Manager, will walk attendees through the workshop and some of the key findings. The webinar will also be an opportunity for workshop participants to share their thoughts and feedback, as well as next steps.

The CPO Water Risk Team participated in the workshop and will use the workshop findings to plan its approach to helping water utilities and city planners in the Great Lakes Region better manage their water infrastructure and protect citizens who are vulnerable to flooding.
