New USGCRP New Climate Engagement and Capacity-Building (CEC) Interagency Group (IG) officially approved on March 15

The Climate Engagement and Capacity-Building (CEC) Interagency Group (IG) of the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) was officially approved on March 15th. It is the flagship working group for the Engage the Nation pillar of the new USGCRP Decadal Strategic Plan. CEE’s Frank Niepold is co-chair of the Climate Literacy workstream and Haley Crim is the coordinator of the working group. Members currently represent 18 departments and agencies, with 10 members from NOAA. The IG is always accepting new members.

The CEC-IG coordinates Federal agency climate and global change efforts focused on community engagement, education, public awareness, and training. CEC’s current projects include coordinating climate training for federal agencies, understanding national trends in climate-related jobs, and creating resources for expanding climate literacy across the country and around the world.
