The Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), a UN-led initiative reporting to the World Meteorological Organization, provides a worldwide mechanism for coordinated actions to enhance the quality, quantity and application of climate services. NOAA provides U.S. representation to the GFCS governance body - the Intergovernmental Board on Climate Services (IBCS).
The third meeting of the IBCS Management Committee will take place on October 26-28 in Geneva, Switzerland and the Climate Program Office is helping lead the U.S. delegation. A key topic to be discussed is the approval of a four year strategic work plan.
The U.S. delegation includes Ko Barrett, OAR Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator for Programs and Administration, Wayne Higgins, Director of OAR's Climate Program Office (CPO), and Meredith Muth, CPO International Program Manager.
