New Report Assessing Future Impacts of Saltwater Intrusion on the Carolinas

The Carolinas Integrated Sciences & Assessments RISA has released a new report on Assessing the Impact of Saltwater Intrusion in the Carolinas under Future Climatic and Sea Level Conditions. The report highlights the results of a stakeholder workshop held in December 2011 to discuss saltwater intrusion planning challenges and information needs with regional decision makers and to gain their input regarding the utility of the PRISM2 decision support system. This model, which was updated as part of the grant, allows users to adjust sea level rise and flow levels in the Yadkin Pee Dee River basin to generate scenarios of how future climate change and sea level rise may impact the degree and duration of saltwater intrusion events. This work was conducted by CISA for a NOAA Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications (COCA) grant (previously SARP-Coasts).
