Equity in Practice: AMS Joint Sessions Focus on Actionable Integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

A joint session with AMS Weather Water and Climate Enterprise and the Board on Enterprise Decision Support aims to pave the way in equity to advance the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise. There is a growing acknowledgement of the necessity to integrate diversity and inclusion into our daily lives. Implementing these ways of thinking expands our worldviews, can stimulate new ways of approaching challenges, and is simply the moral thing to do. There are also opportunities to bring these benefits into the work that we do, the research questions that we ask, what gets funded, and how we run our businesses. This session will explore why it is important for the members of the AMS enterprise to change not just how we think about diversity, equity, and inclusion, but how each of us can be leaders in bringing about change in the work that we do on a daily basis. Integrating diversity and inclusion into our work will expand the reach and the impact of all of our effort individually, and collectively as the AMS enterprise.
