CPO’s Pulwarty is author on Science-published article

Dr. Roger Pulwarty, a scientist at NOAA’s Climate Program Office and director of the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) program is one of the authors on a new article published in Science titled “Hell and high water: Practice-relevant climate adaption science.”The article, published in the Nov. 8 issue of Science, outlines the need for practice-relevant adaptation science.   
 
Four primary challenges described in the article are aimed at informing the societal preparations needed in response to climate change impacts in the article. These are: Understanding what information is needed to make decisions about adapting to climate change; Identifying vulnerabilities in society, the economy and the environment; Improving forecasts and climate models in ways that can address specific problems; Providing technology, management, and policy options for adaptation.
