On May 11 from 1-2:30pm CT, the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) will host its third session to solicit input from regional partners on the 2021-2024 Strategic Action Plan (SAP) for the Midwest Drought Early Warning System (DEWS). The Midwest DEWS SAP will identify gaps and needs within the region through a consultative process, which can be used to direct NIDIS and other federal agency funding, as well as justify other investments. The Plan was developed through engagement with regional federal, tribal, state, and local partners over the last two years.

The input sessions will help ensure that the Midwest DEWS SAP accurately represents the needs of regional partners. NIDIS held the first two sessions on May 4 and May 5. NIDIS will incorporate the feedback from these three input sessions into the final version of the Midwest DEWS SAP.
