A team of researchers supported by CPO’s International Research and Applications Project (IRAP) will convene the one-day workshop in Puerto Rico in February 2020.

The new report includes strategies, methods, and case studies of cities that have used economic data and methods to advance climate adaptation programs.

Led by Rick Thoman (Climate Specialist with CPO’s Alaska RISA), the authors found that with ongoing global warming, such low levels like the 2018 extent could be typical by the 2040s.

The SPT is a compilation of relatively easy-to-use online interactive tools, maps, and graphs that helps cut through the internet clutter and points to relatively simple data tools. SCIPP also recently received an award from the American Planning Association Oklahoma Chapter for this tool.

Flash drought can quickly deplete soil moisture and dramatically increase evaporative stress on the environment, leading to significant impacts on agriculture. A recently completed study, supported by CPO's Sectoral Applications Research Program, performed a regional analysis across the United States to explore geographic differences of flash droughts.
