By providing current and past event information on drought, extreme heat, hurricanes, winter weather and other severe weather in the Carolinas, the story map aims to educate and prepare regional stakeholders about climate extremes.

Water auctions are a valuable tool for exchanging scarce water resources among users. The guidebook can help users consider advantages and disadvantages, as well as implementation and evaluation of water auctions. 

After Charleston identified extreme heat as a significant risk to the region, the Carolinas RISA team is collaborating with the City of Charleston on two programs to take a critical step in increasing heat-health awareness and reduce risk in the most vulnerable communities.

The April 7th event will welcome Dr. Patricia Fabian and Dr. Madeleine Scammell of the Boston University School of Public Health, and Roseann Bongiovanni, Executive Director of GreenRoots, a Chelsea-based environmental justice organization, who will discuss C-HEAT: a collaborative study of heat exposure in Chelsea and East Boston, Massachusetts.

Based on primary data that documented the impacts of and recovery from Hurricane Sandy in New York City, researchers identified which of the common indicators reflect vulnerability and resilience to coastal flooding in urban areas.
