Researchers from Oregon State University and NOAA Fisheries, supported in part by CPO’s Climate Observations and Monitoring (COM) program, have developed a new dataset derived from shipboard survey data collected west of Newport, Oregon between March 1997 and July 2021.
The dataset contains information on temperature, practical salinity, potential density, spiciness, and dissolved oxygen derived from seven hydrographic stations. It also includes MATLAB and R scripts that show how to read the data files, plot cross-shelf hydrographic sections, and calculate daily and monthly climatologies. The dataset, described in detail in Data in Brief, can be used to construct seasonal cycles at any location in the observation region.
This dataset was developed as part of a COM grant to generate indices of climate variability and climate change using long-term physical and ecological ocean observations from the northern California Current.
