On June 21-23, 2016, the North American Climate Services Partnership (NACSP) joined with the biennial North American Drought Monitor (NADM) Forum and annual North American Fire Forecasting Workshop to convene a joint workshop in Fort Worth, Texas, on drought, wildfire and climate services across North America. • To support the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), the Sectoral Applications Research Program (SARP)’s Coping with Drought Initiative will fund six new two-year research projects in FY16, for a total of $1.7 million. 

NOAA's Climate Program Office released its FY15 Annual Report on March 11, 2016. The report gives an overview of CPO's achievements  in FY15 and highlights the great work done by the Office's Divisions and Programs to advance scientific understanding of climate and improve society's ability to plan and respond to a changing climate.

A new report from the NOAA Drought Task Force, “Research to Advance National Drought Monitoring and Prediction Capabilities,” highlights the crucial role NOAA research plays in advancing our ability to prepare for and react to drought.

A new study assesses the evolution of weather and climate conditions and impacts during the 1950s to establish their national and regional decision-making contexts, scientific and technological improvements prior to and during the event that helped mitigate risks, and on and off-farm responses in terms of the socioeconomic impacts.
