New Satellite Cloud Datasets Produced

With partial funding from CPO's Climate Monitoring Division,  Researchers at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography have published new research applying important "corrections" to two widely-used, long term satellite cloud data records (The International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) dataset and the Pathfinder Atmospheres–Extended (PATMOS-x) dataset).

New research supported by CPO's AC4 program has been published in Nature. "Climate Change and the Permafrost Carbon Feedback" focuses on the large quantities of organic carbon are stored in frozen soils within arctic and sub-arctic regions.

CPO's MAPP to co-host upcoming exploratory workshop on sub-seasonal forecasting based on NMME

The OAR/CPO Modeling, Analysis, and Predictions and Projections (MAPP) program, together with the National Weather Service/National Centers for Environmental Predictions (NWS/NCEP) Climate Prediction Center (CPC), will hold a workshop to explore advancing sub-seasonal forecasting as a follow-on to the North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME), a state-of-the-art prediction system.
