NOAA RISA hires Joe Dwyer, Climate Adaptation Program Specialist, to facilitate climate impacts and adaptation research and planning and preparedness activities in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Dwyer was hired as a Climate Adaptation Program Specialist to support NOAA RISA in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His position will help establish critical interagency and community-based partnerships necessary to further climate adaptation planning and preparedness.

Ms. Moehlenkamp attended the Palau Indigenous Knowledge Exchange to participate in traditional forms of aquaculture and navigation, exploring Indigenous coastal solutions to climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience, and building alliances for a united Pacific.

New publication on ensemble-based forecasting for Tropical Cyclone Isaias (2020) co-authored by Philip Orton, Principal Investigator with the Consortium for Climate Risk in the Urban Northeast (CCRUN)

The study, published in the Journal of Weather and Climate Extremes, found that the use of ensemble-based flood forecasting systems are more advanced than single forecasting systems, as they provide better information that can be used in emergency management decision making in the event of a disaster.
