The international Argo Program held its 20th Data Management Team Meeting from October 13-18, 2019 in Villefranche-sur-mer. For the first time, this annual meeting included a focus on data visualization tools to help a variety of audiences connect Argo to our global weather and climate.

NOAA Research’s Ocean Observing and Monitoring Division has awarded $3 million in funding for projects that will expand the ability of the global Argo Program to measure ocean chemistry.

Pacific Marine Environmental Lab (PMEL) and partners aboard the Kaiyo Maru #1 successfully completed the Kuroshio Extension Observatory (KEO) mooring turnaround cruise during typhoon season.

On Thursday, September 26, 2019, Hurricane Lorenzo tracked directly over the PIRATA T-Flex mooring at 15°N, 38°W. Despite the direct hit, the mooring remains in position and continues to transmit high-quality, high-resolution data in real-time.

The tide gauge station in Pensacola, Florida has successfully been upgraded to include Continuous Global Navigation Satellite Systems (cGNSS) sensors. This upgrade is part of a larger upgrade plan for all US based Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS) tide gauge stations.
