This year’s meeting was held in Charleston, South Carolina last week. Record-breaking rain during the event underscored the importance of the meeting’s theme: climate information for coastal risk reduction.

The NOAA/OAR Climate Program Office Climate and Societal Interactions (CSI) Coastal and Oceans Climate Applications (COCA) and Sectoral Applications Research Program (SARP) hosted a webinar concentrating on information for the Letter of Intent phase of the federal funding opportunities cycle.

The three competitions would fund interdisciplinary research on planning and preparedness to extreme weather and climate.

NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO), a part of NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), has awarded $38.8 million for 78 new projects* in FY 2017. The projects — ranging from advancing the understanding and prediction of drought to building resilience in coastal communities — will expand the breadth and scope of NOAA’s current climate research and offers opportunities for NOAA to collaborate with outside experts and new stakeholders.
