Dr. Ashley Ward (Carolinas RISA) discussed the relationship between high heat days and preterm births in North Carolina.

Through a series of Pacific Islands Regional Climate Assessment workshops in the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands, Pacific RISA gathered constituent input to tailor climate science summaries to local needs. 

The report describes the difficult forecast, the forecasted rainfall totals, and summarizes the actual event details.

The workshop took place July 16-17 and included senior technical leaders from major utilities for New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Kansas City, Houston, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle, and Edmonton (among others) along with representatives of various umbrella organizations linking cities (large and small) to pragmatic responses to climate. 

The Northeast Urban RISA welcomes Anna LoPresti as its new Sustained Assessment Specialist. LoPresti will join a small network of assessment specialists who synthesize research findings and information about adaptation activities in their region as ongoing input to the National Climate Assessment and relevant regional processes. The South Central RISA is also currently seeking a new Sustained Assessment Specialist.
