The National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) will be holding the second NIHHIS National Meeting later this month from April 25 – 27, 2023. This virtual 3-day meeting aims to bring together multiple stakeholders (federal agencies, state and local government, private and public partners, researchers, community leaders, and more) to discuss heat and health with the goal of reducing risk on multiple timescales and geographic scales. The three themes of NIHHIS National include: Intersections in Heat and Health; Highlighting Science, Innovation, and Research; and State, Local, Territorial, and Tribal Policies and Practices and in Heat Planning. The meeting includes keynote speakers, presentations and panels on heat and health topics, and more. The meeting will also include a virtual networking opportunity on April 25th.

We hope that participants leave the NIHHIS National Meeting with an improved understanding of what resources are available to help with heat risk mitigation, a stronger community of practice, new skills, perspective, and ideas for managing heat, a sense of empowerment and commitment to advance heat preparedness, and a better understanding for the importance of addressing heat as a hazard and prioritizing heat action. The NIHHIS Program will leave the meeting with a defined and strengthened partner network, as well as gain input on the NIHHIS Strategic Plan.

Keynote speakers for NIHHIS include Dr. Spinrad, Dr. Walensky (CDC Director), Admiral Levine (Assistant Secretary for Health, HHS), Congresswoman Bonamici (D-OR), Kristen Averyt (White House, CEQ), and additional federal agency leadership.
