NIDIS welcomes Sylvia Reeves, Northeast Drought Early Warning System Coordinator

The National Integrated Drought Informatin System (NIDIS) is pleased to welcome Sylvia Reeves as its Regional Drought Information Coordinator for the Northeast Regional Drought Early Warning System (DEWS), effective June 1, 2020. Sylvia brings to this role significant expertise and experience in atmospheric sciences and meteorology as well as emergency management, including emergency planning and preparedness, training, natural hazards decision support, and multidisciplinary preparedness planning. She comes to NIDIS from the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, where she served as an Emergency Management Program Specialist for 8 years. Sylvia received a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from Cornell University and a Master of Arts degree in Science Policy from North Carolina State University. She will be based at the Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University in Ithaca University and will work closely with the Climate Center, NOAA's Regional Climate Services Director for the Eastern Region, and other partners.
