On July 17, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the American Meteorological Society released the 2014 State of the Climate report. The report was led by editors from NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center.
The report, a 25-year tradition encompassing the work of 413 authors from 58 countries, uses dozens of climate indicators to track patterns, changes, and trends of the global climate system. These indicators often reflect many thousands of measurements from multiple independent data sets.

The report also details cases of unusual and extreme regional events, such as Hurricane Odile, which came ashore in Baja California in September 2014.
Every year, the Climate.gov team creates highlights for the report in consultation with the report’s editors and authors at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center. This year, the Associated Press included the link to the Climate.gov highlights as the only link in its State of the Climate coverage.
In addition, a number of high-visibility publications utilized the Climate.gov images. These publications included: Bloomberg News, Forbes, Gizmodo, and CBS News,  among others.
