From May 11-12, CPO’s Communication, Education and Engagement Division and Climate and Societal Interactions Division will sponsor the 2020 Local Solutions conference in Portland, Maine. The conference will empower participants to take action steps focused on climate equity, which ensures that all people have opportunities to influence and benefit from climate resilience-building solutions. Attendees will engage in a series of keynotes and sessions on developing a roadmap for action to implement climate resilience in their communities. Each participant will leave with a list of equity-oriented action steps they will pursue upon returning to their community. The two keynotes and each convening session will provide guidance about how to implement climate resilience with an equity frame. The conference will be hosted by Antioch University New England, NOAA, and the Island Institute, and will bring together small government planners, emergency managers, elected and appointed decision-makers, and others striving to create healthy, resilient communities.
