Last month, New York City Mayor de Blasio released a new report, “The State of Climate Knowledge 2021,” co-authored by the Consortium for Climate Risk in the Urban Northeast (CCRUN), a CPO Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) team. The report outlines New York City’s climate research priorities and identifies knowledge gaps for future study, communicating needs to external partners including academic scientists, federal researchers, philanthropic foundations, and community organizations. It’s an important step in integrating sustained assessment into New York City climate adaptation planning, and will catalyze new and creative partnerships to develop credible and actionable research products that address NYC’s most pressing climate challenges.

CCRUN’s Sustained Assessment Specialist Anna LoPresti and Principal Investigator Radley Horton served as co-author and contributor respectively, in partnership with the New York City Mayor’s Office of Resilience. The report was developed through a collaborative engagement process that included over 170 people from 21 City agencies and 27 non-governmental organizations from each of the five boroughs.
