During the week of May 23-27 2022, Pacific RISA Principal Investigator Victoria Keener gave two seminars at the ASU Center for Science and Policy Outcomes (ASU CSPO) in Washington, DC. The first seminar, Advancing Climate & Natural Resource Policy Through Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Exchange, took place on Wednesday, May 25. During this seminar Dr. Keener shared examples of how the Pacific RISA is using its role as a science and policy boundary organization, and how the Pacific Islands peer-to-peer exchange initiative framework advances and accelerates climate adaptation initiatives and policies that consider climate data and models, regional geopolitics, social equity, and financial risk. The second seminar, Involving the Public in Participatory Scenario Planning, was held on Thursday May 26, and provided an overview of a multi-year stakeholder intensive co-development process on Groundwater Recharge in Maui, Hawai’i. This process of co-development of participatory scenario planning and modeling can accelerate the uptake of complex climate data and projections into local decision making.
