The 5th National Adaptation Forum (NAF) will be held in Baltimore, MD, from October 25 to 27, 2022. An every other year event, the Forum convenes about 800 adaptation practitioners from across the nation and from other nations to share knowledge, innovate, network, and build relationships across government, academic, commercial, and non-governmental domains of expertise. NOAA’s Climate Program Office will have representatives from the ESSM, CEE, and CSI divisions in attendance. Altogether, NOAA and its partners will participate in over a dozen sessions at NAF in which we will summarize our ongoing efforts to build a Climate-Ready Nation. This year’s event and NOAA’s Exhibit Booth were co-sponsored by CEE and CSI together with other offices in NMFS, NOS, and Sea Grant. The NAF will provide opportunities for professional development through formal training sessions, facilitated presentations by practitioners, and informal exchange of information through hybrid networking. The conference will provide an environment for adaptation practitioners to learn more about climate-smart practices, share their work with others.

The stated goals of the forum are to:

  1. Provide a professional development opportunity for  adaptation practitioners
  2. Contribute to the development of a community of practice around climate adaptation
  3. Create a space for practitioners to share information, progress, and strategy, building the capacity of the community as a whole and the individual
  4. Support on the ground implementation by providing practitioners with a community  to exchange knowledge of and tools for incorporating climate adaptation into their work

Folks attending in person should visit our NOAA Exhibit in booth #300, where we will offer interactive sessions and giveaway materials describing NOAA’s adaptation-related science and services.
