The NOAA CPO Modeling, Analysis, Predictions, and Projections (MAPP) program will host a webinar on the topic of Extreme Heat and Health: Creating Environmental Intelligence Through Science, Predictions, and Engagement on Thursday, April 28, 2016. The webinar is co-hosted by the National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS), the Climate Variability and Predictability (CVP) program, the Climate Observations and Monitoring (COM) program, and the Regional Integrated Science and Assessments (RISA) program. A modern look at one of the United States’ most destructive hurricanes indicates that it was deeper than, but not quite as intense as, originally estimated. This research, funded by CPO’s Climate Observation Division, changed the ranking intensity of Hurricane Camille.

New research supported by CPO's Climate Observation Division looks into whether or not its possible to provide NOAA Global Drifter Program data at hourly resolution. This research, "A global surface drifter data set at hourly resolution," was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans on April 4, 2016.
