On March 21, CPO CEE Division Chief David Herring will participate in the second of a 2-part “Climate Cafe” with faith leaders from across the nation to discuss the causes and effects of sea level rise and communication strategies for encouraging positive action. (Part 1 was held on Feb. 21 and anyone interested can review the recording of that session here.) In the second session, David will present a review of recent social science research on public understanding, attitudes, and perceptions about science, and lessons learned that point to more effective communication strategies.

This event is part of an ongoing series of “Climate Cafes,” hosted by Faiths4Future —a nonprofit organization of faith leaders, clergy, lay people, and leaders of different faith traditions who recognize the urgency of today’s climate crisis and the necessity of taking action at all levels. MultiFaith Climate Cafes are held on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 2:00 pm ET. They offer an opportunity for faith leaders and clergy to learn more about climate science, ask questions, share their own experiences and perspectives, and engage in discussions around the subject of climate change, climate impacts, and climate solutions. The goals are to build a deeper understanding and to find ways of inspiring hope within faith communities.
