Version 1.0 of the Toolkit was developed over a 5-month period in 2014 by a partnership of federal agencies and organizations, led by NOAA’s Climate Program Office. Faced with time and resource constraints, the main goal was to lay a firm foundation and framework for inclusion that would allow the Toolkit to expand and grow over time, primarily in response to user needs and feedback.
The Toolkit’s initial focus is on helping the nation address challenges in the areas of Coastal Flood Risk and Food Resilience. Over the next six months, the site will expand to more fully address other topics, including Human Health, Ecosystem Vulnerability, Water Resource Risks, Energy Supply and Infrastructure, Transportation and Supply Chain Risks, and others.
The toolkit rolled out on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 in a joint announcement with the White House.
