A technical report produced by the NOAA CMIP5 Task Force analyzes how CMIP5–the latest generation of climate model simulations–compares to CMIP3 simulations and projections of regional climate processes for North America.
The NOAA CPO Modeling, Analysis, Prediction, and Projections (MAPP) program will host a webinar on the topic of CMIP5 results for North American and CMIP6 plans, Tuesday, February 25. This webinar will discuss ongoing work analyzing CMIP5 20th century simulations and 21st century projections for North America. Talks will highlight ongoing activities of the NOAA CMIP5 Task Force, including work being done with the applications/user community and modeling centers. An update on the plans for CMIP6 will also be presented. The announcement is provided below; you are invited to remotely join the session.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 5th Assessment Report on “The Physical Science Basis” of climate change has been completed and will appear online on Sept. 30, 2013. This report represents a milestone in the understanding of the Earth system and climate science. Scientific research funded by NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO) is foundational to advancing IPCC reports. CPO supports climate science research reflected in the IPCC’s report through its Climate Observations and Monitoring (COM); Earth System Science (ESS); and Modeling, Analysis, Predictions, and Projections (MAPP) programs.
