This project aims to identify the impact of recurrent disasters on K- 12 academic infrastructures in frontline communities; understand the role of existing policies in mitigating such impacts and shortening recovery timelines; and develop policy toolkits which facilitate rapid assessment and assistance after disasters.
The project team is working to assess when and where extreme heat and flood have sequentially occurred, evaluate whether the probability of their co-occurrence has changed over recent decades, and disseminate results through community partnerships with the intention to inform adaptation and mitigation efforts.
