Dr. Anna-Lena Deppenmeier, a scientist working on the Tropical Pacific Observing System (TPOS) Equatorial Pacific Experiment (TEPEX) recently accepted a position at the University of Liverpool, where she will continue investigating the tropical Pacific. The Climate Program Office’s Climate Variability and Predictability (CVP) program funded Dr. Deppenmeier’s work on TEPEX. Her new appointment includes a 5-year award from the UK Research and Innovation’s Natural Environment Research Council. Previously, Deppenmeier worked as a Project Scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado.

In addition to marking a significant step in Deppenmeier’s career, this new opportunity strengthens the ties between TEPEX, NOAA, and European research institutions. CVP is enthusiastic about the synergies this partnership may bring, as Deppenmeier’s expertise and the resources from her new role will undoubtedly elevate the research capabilities of TEPEX. It will additionally contribute to new avenues for innovative modeling approaches that could significantly impact climate science.
