The US Climate Variability and Predictability Program (US CLIVAR) Scientific Steering Committee held its annual meeting during the month of March in Alexandria, Virginia. The meeting was attended both in-person and virtually by committee members, federal agency managers and staff, panel members, and supporting staff.
During the two-day meeting, several presentations were given on the progress made by US CLIVAR both at the domestic and international levels, the on-going research supported by federal agencies, and a review of the 2022 Panel Reports made by US CLIVAR’s three panels. NOAA’s agency-wide update was given by Climate Variability and Predictability (CVP) Program Manager, Virginia Selz. The agenda also included the discussion of the current climate modeling challenges, the findings of the National Climate Assessment, an upcoming report by the Air-Sea Transition Zone Study Group, and new approaches to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
US CLIVAR is funded by the CVP and MAPP Programs in CPO, and the GOMO Program
Office. It also has interagency funding by NSF, NASA, DOE and NOAA.
