Future Heat Events and Social Vulnerability 2018

Source:

One Health Priority Focus Areas:

This tool visually maps and displays data of NOAA future heat events over 95° F and CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) 2018.

The SVI uses U.S. Census data to determine the social vulnerability of every county and tract. CDC SVI ranks each county and tract on 15 social factors, including poverty, lack of vehicle access, and crowded housing, and groups them into four related themes: Socioeconomic, Housing Composition and Disability, Minority Status and Language, and Housing and Transportation

Users can select a future year and the number of heat days to see the data displayed on the map and a rank of the top 10 most vulnerable counties, or tracts, for each SVI theme. Expanded details for the top county are broken down by contributing factors for each theme.
