The NIHHIS Interagency Communications Group heat season awareness social media campaign is a federal agency collaboration that will provide resources and messages to inform the public about the risk from heat, and to provide actions and prevention measures to decrease their risk to heat.
ENSO is a major source of seasonal predictability and driver of global climate and extreme events. Changes in the seasonal evolution of ENSO during its onset and decay phases have received little attention by the research community. Wildfire season across the Southwestern U.S. has begun, with multiple destructive fires burning in Arizona and New Mexico. This June 2nd webinar will provide timely information on the current drought status and outlook and wildland fire potential outlook.
Next week’s conference will address ways to build capacity to climate crisis and other challenges through productive civic engagement at the scale necessary for a genuinely democratic response across our cities and regions, coastal communities and Western landscapes.
The session will be held in February 2023 and will serve to expand CPO’s work with national marine sanctuaries and MPAs to an international forum by leveraging CPO’s world-class climate communication’s program and the experience gained through over two years of the Marine Ecosystem Risk Team Initiative.

NOAA will provide funding to CAPA Strategies to support the Urban Heat Island mapping campaigns, a flagship NIHHIS program, to map the hottest part of communities across the country and internationally. NIHHIS is a featured program of the Climate Program Office.
