Atmospheric Chemistry, Carbon Cycle and Climate (AC4)

NOAA’s Climate Program Office awards $27.7M to advance scientific understanding, improve predictions, and enhance resilience to extreme events

NOAA’s Climate Program Office (CPO), a part of NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), has awarded $27.7 million for 87 new projects. The projects, ranging from advancing the understanding of Arctic sea ice variability to building resilience to extreme events, will be conducted by universities and other research institutions, alongside other federal agencies […]

AC4 Supports Thirteen Projects Focusing on the Formation of Aerosols from Biogenic Emissions in FY18

NOAA’s Atmospheric Chemistry, Carbon Cycle, and Climate (AC4) Program is funding thirteen new projects including $1.7 million initially and $5 million over three years following a highly competitive funding competition. Aerosols and aerosol formation have a significant influence on both climate and air quality. There are, however, a number of uncertainties in fully understanding and

In FY17 AC4 supported two unique efforts: (1) Regional and Global Environments Experiment (FIREX) and (2) Synthesis and Analysis Research relating to Urban Emissions

Regional and Global Environments Experiment (FIREX) In FY17 the AC4 program funded an additional 10 new projects consisting of 14 individual grants totaling $5.0 million to universities and non-Federal research laboratories in support of the Fire Influence on Regional and Global Environments Experiment (FIREX) led by NOAA’s Chemical Science Division. FIREX will study emissions and
