NOAA-DOE Precipitation Processes and Predictability Workshop
Many extreme events and the impacts they cause (e.g., billion-dollar disasters) are associated with precipitation amounts (either too much or too little). A key to reducing these impacts is to be able to anticipate when, where and how much precipitation will fall.
Workshop on Air Quality in the Western United States
The workshop focused on a future aircraft campaign in the winter of 2021/2022 to investigate wintertime particulate matter in populated mountain basins of the western U.S.
2019 CPO ESSM Workshop and Annual Council Meeting
The CPO ESSM Workshop and Council Meeting was held in Civic Center in Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland on November 20, 2019. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together key CPO partners and stakeholders, both internal and external to NOAA to discuss CPO’s climate and Earth system research priorities and partnership strategies over the next 1-5 years.

Deadline Extensions for NOAA General Modeling Meeting and Fair
There is still time to get engaged in the upcoming NOAA General Modeling Meeting and Fair, September 10-12! August 8th is now the deadline to submit an abstract and sign-up for a modeling tutorial. Registration will remain open until August 31st (August 10th for Foreign Nationals).

Recent NWS meeting highlights critical role of MAPP Program projects to advance its Unified Forecast System
NOAA, in partnership with other agencies and universities, is developing and implementing a new global prediction system by incorporating the latest research in modeling and data assimilation from NOAA and the external community. The latest key milestone is the National Weather Service (NWS) Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) Coordination Meeting to advance its Unified Forecast System (UFS), which builds on the Next Generation Global Prediction System (NGGPS) through a multi-year plan.
