The Communication, Education, and Engagement (CEE) Division’s Frank Niepold was an advisor, facilitator, and panelist for the NSF funded Preparing a Green and Blue Workforce Convening on February 7–8, 2024. Frank participated in a panel on “Public Agencies and the Policy Context” with NSF, DOL, DOE, EPA, and Department of Education. Haley Crim and Frank were co-facilitators for the “Finding Common Language” session. In the session, participants used Menti to create word clouds and try to arrive at shared understandings around the blue and green workforce. The hosts, Education Development Center, convened economists, scientists, K-12 formal and informal education leaders, industry leaders, community leaders, government leaders, and philanthropic leaders to identify strategies to ensure all U.S. youth are ready to thrive in green and blue economies.
