The National Climate Assessment Development and Advisory Committee (NCADAC) recommended the development of a sustained National Climate Indicators System, which is supported through a NOAA CPO Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites-Maryland (CICS-MD) grant.
This system of indicators will communicate key aspects of the physical climate, climate impacts, vulnerabilities, and preparedness for the purpose of informing both decision makers and the public with scientifically valid information that is useful for decision-making.
The Indicators Research and Coordination Office, led by Dr. Melissa Kenney, will move forward with developing and implementing a national indicator system with the first step being the implementation of a pilot system released in the summer of 2014.
