This Wednesday, OAR Communications published an interview with climate researcher Gigi Owen. This article continues a series of interviews with CPO-funded scientists in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Gigi Owen works with CLIMAS, one of NOAA’s RISA programs. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nature & Culture from UC Davis, and then went on to study ecology. She spent several years studying buffelgrass, an invasive species that is prevalent in the Southwest. Now, she conducts research and works with communities to solve problems caused by climate impacts.
In this interview, Gigi discusses impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on local communities and her own climate research, and the importance of collaboration in social science.
