Juli Trtanj (OAR/CPO) and Michelle Hawkins (NWS), attended a High-Level Knowledge Leadership Exchange Forum on Heat Health and Climate Preparedness in New York City on September 16th. The forum brought together heat health experts and practitioners from the United States (NOAA’s Climate Program Office and Weather Service, the National Resources Defense Council, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai) and India (the Indian Institute of Public Health-Gandhinagar, India Meteorological Department) to discuss the India-US Climate Resilience Partnership. NOAA’s engagement in this forum builds on the NOAA-lead Workshop on the Development of Climate Information Systems for Heat Health Early Warning, held in Chicago in July, which included participants from India and several other countries. The knowledge sharing and relationships from this forum will support expanded engagement between NOAA and domestic and international partners as we develop the US National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS).
