CPO’s Modeling, Analysis, Predictions and Projections (MAPP) and Earth Systems Sciences (ESS) programs have both provided support for the International Conference on Subseasonal to Seasonal Prediction (S2S). The conference will take place from Feb. 10-13 in College Park, Md. at NOAA’s Center for Weather and Climate Prediction.
S2S is a research joint project between the World Meteorological Organization’s World Weather Research Programme(WMO WWRP) and THORPEX – The Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment of the World Climate Research Programme (THORPEX/WCRP).
Themes for the conference are: relevant phenomenon for subseasonal to seasonal predictions and predictability, prediction of Extremes, initialization and perturbation methods, design of forecast systems, bias correction, verifications, and quantification of uncertainty, approaches to integrate S2S forecasts into applications.
