The NOAA Climate Adaptation Partnerships (CAP) program will be hosting a session at the National Adaptation Forum (NAF) 2024 to share insights from the first wave of awarded small grant programs across four regions. The program has created a new funding and partnership model that allows and encourages our currently funded regionally-based teams to disburse small grants to CBOs who partner with frontline communities to support their climate adaptation efforts. The intent for these community small grants is to supplement the climate capacity of CAP with the expertise of CBOs and facilitate accessibility of federal funding to frontline communities.
The CAP program will host a panel that brings together regional CAP members and their frontline community partners to describe the process and early outcomes, including challenges and opportunities. The session will be discussion-based allowing for thoughtful reflection on the experiences of the panelists and will offer an opportunity for interaction with the audience. The session will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 03:30 PM-05:00 PM in Meeting Room 15.
Four CAP teams and their community partners will be represented during the panel:
- The Consortium for Climate Risk in the Urban Northeast (CCRUN) Team with Groundwork Hudson Valley
- The Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy (ACCAP) Team with the Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council
- The Northwest Climate Resilience Coalition (NCRC) Team and United Territories of Pacific Islanders Alliance Washington (UTOPIA Washington)
- The Western Water Assessment (WWA) Team and Greater Yellowstone Coalition
