A Special Issue of the Journal, Earth Perspectives: Transdisciplinarity Enabled on the role of the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) in Shaping Climate Services was published on June 14, 2014.
The articles are open source and available online at:
NOAA catalyzed the establishment of the IRI in the mid-1990s, and supported its work for over15 years. This thematic series intends to show how these multi-disciplinary efforts fit together into the big picture that illustrates the value of each piece to the overall goals of climate risk management or climate change adaptation or climate services.
NOAA/CPO employees Wayne Higgins, Roger Pulwarty, Lisa Farrow Vaughan, and Claudia Nierenberg and USAID’s John Furlow contributed an article to this publication, which includes a description of NOAA’s next phase of investment in international research and applications- the NOAA/CPO International Research and Applications Project (IRA)) – which is co-funded by USAID.
