NOAA partnerships highlighted at the International Conference on Climate Services

Representatives from NOAA’s Climate Program Office attended the Third International Conference on Climate Services (ICCS-3), held on December 4-6, 2013 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This conference provided an opportunity for experts around the world to come together and share their experiences, while discussing challenges and opportunities in the transition from research and pilot activities to sustained climate services.
During the three-day conference, climate information users, providers, donors, and researchers explored the use of climate information to improve decision making in order to help manage the impact of drought, improve coastal resilience, and mitigate the incidence of climate-sensitive disease.
NOAA’s collaborative activities with Caribbean partners on issues such as developing drought early warning systems were highlighted. NOAA was a co-sponsor of this conference in collaboration with USAID and a number of other international research and development organizations. The ICCS is organized by the Climate Services Partnership.

OAR participation in the ICCS3 included CPO and ESRL.
