Sean
Bath
Physical Scientist, Program Manager
Federal
Division: Climate and Societal Interactions (CSI), DEIA Working Group
Department: CAP/Regional Integrated Science and Assessments (RISA)

Sean Bath (he/they) is a white, queer, interdisciplinary professional with expertise in policy, planning, and analysis related to environmental science, risk management, and climate change. He has several years of gradually escalating program management experience in the NOAA CAP/RISA Program, advancing equitable adaptation through sustained regional research and community engagement. In his experience with the program, he has become increasingly convinced of the need to “work at the speed of trust” in building the social infrastructure to withstand the climate crisis. Over the years, he has focused his contributions to the program in reporting & articulating accomplishments, integrating social justice and equity, and promoting meaningful cultural change in our top-down institutions.

Sean is working on part time detail with NOAA Deputy Administrator Jainey Bavishi on equity and adaptation and is an incoming Agency Coordinating Lead Author of the Social Systems Chapter of the Sixth National Climate Assessment. He is an alum of and active mentor in the NOAA Knauss Fellowship and a co-lead of the Network of Networks Group affiliated with the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP). He has a M.S. in Environmental Studies and Master of Public Administration with a graduate certificate in Urban and Regional Planning all from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
