Climate.gov, a production of NOAA’s Climate Program Office, is launching a weekly e-newsletter: “This Week on Climate.gov.”

The highlights for the State of the Climate in 2013 report were created by the Climate.gov team in consultation with the report’s editors and authors at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center.
Net carbon uptake has increased through warming-induced changes in forest phenology
Research funded by the Climate Program Office has been accepted for publication into Nature Climate Change. The paper “Net Carbon Uptake has Increased Through Warming-Induced Changes in Forest Phenology,” was published June 1.
Climate.gov staff, NOAA leadership attend Webby Awards
After winning three awards in the 2014 Webby Awards, NOAA Climate.gov was invited to give a five-word acceptance speech at a ceremony in New York City on Monday. David Herring and Frank Niepold of NOAA Climate.gov attended along with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Dr. Kathryn Sullivan and Senior Advisor Christine Blackburn. Dr. Sullivan accepted the awards. Her speech: “Earth: Our home. NOAA’s mission.”
Moving toward collective impact in climate change literacy: the Climate Literacy And Energy Awareness Network
A CLEAN manuscript has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Geoscience Education theme issue on climate literacy. In recent years various climate change education efforts have been launched, including federally (NOAA, NASA, NSF, etc.) and privately funded projects, as well as the development and deployment of the Climate and Energy Literacy frameworks, both reviewed and endorsed by the U.S. Global Change Research Program.
CPO staffs Earth Day booth with National Weather Service
Along with the National Weather Service, staff from NOAA’s Climate Program Office staffed an information booth at Union Station on Tuesday, April 22, to celebrate Earth Day.
Climate.gov wins two Webby Awards and a People’s Voice Award!
NOAA Climate.gov was selected by the International Academy of the Digital Arts & Sciences to receive two Webby Awards in the “Government” and “Green” categories. We also garnered a People’s Voice Award in the “Green” category (placing second overall in the “Government” category), determined by popular vote.
