On September 22nd from 9:00AM-11:00AM EDT, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) will host the second COVID-19 Task Team Roundtable: “COVID-19 Seasonality: current understanding and relevance to decision-making.” CPO’s Juli Trtanj serves as the U.S. representative on the WMO COVID-19 Task Team and helped plan the roundtable with the goal of helping both NOAA and other climate and meteorological services better address compound hazards affecting health.
The roundtable will feature a panel of experts, followed by a Q&A session, which will discuss the role of seasonality in the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Event speakers including operational disease forecasters and meteorological service providers, COVID-19 seasonality researchers, and health system experts will address the roles that seasonal risk monitoring and projection can play in COVID-19 response.
