CPO’s Adaptation Sciences (AdSci) program and the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), in partnership with The Water Research Foundation, are pleased to announce a five-part webinar series on the science of precipitation and how to plan for its changing future. Taking place on Thursday afternoons (Eastern) from September 14th through October 12th, “Our Changing Precipitation” webinar series will share some of the considerations and methods for working with available precipitation science and information to advance resilience planning.
Attendees will hear in lay terms, and help advance the conversation about, our current ability to project precipitation at temporal and spatial scales relevant for local water infrastructure decision making. They will also learn about some practical ways to take action to build resilience to climate change.
The webinar series is an outgrowth of a prior study to improve the delivery of information resources and build resilience to climate change in small- to medium-size communities within the United States.
The webinar schedule includes the following:
- Focus on Science
September 14, 2021, 2-3:30 pm EDT
- From Science to Application: Climate Science, Hydrology, and Planning – Part One
September 21, 2021, 2-3:30 pm EDT
- From Science to Application: Climate Science, Hydrology, and Planning – Part Two
September 28, 2021, 2-4 pm EDT
- What’s on the Horizon for Science and Application of Climate Change Information for Water Infrastructure Managers?
October 5, 2021, 1:30-3 pm EDT
- Peer Examples: Evaluating Changing Precipitation Trends for Managing Water Infrastructure
