On Tuesday, November 15, with support from CPO’s Adaptation Sciences Program, NOAA Administrator Dr. Rick Spinrad will participate in an event titled “Partnerships to Accelerate Action to Protect Blue Carbon Ecosystems for Mitigation and Adaptation” at COP27. The event will take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt at 6:15-7:45 a.m. EST/1:15-2:45 p.m. EET.
The Australian Government (in their capacity as the International Partnership for Blue Carbon (IPBC) Coordinator) and the Pew Charitable Trusts are jointly hosting this event to demonstrate how partnerships at all levels are key to accelerate global action to protect blue carbon ecosystems for mitigation and adaptation. The event is an opportunity for NOAA to showcase its capabilities in blue carbon restoration and research, demonstrate how NOAA leverages its partnerships to drive blue carbon action, and highlight ongoing work with Marine Protected Areas and international blue carbon projects, including the CPO-managed NOAA Blue Carbon Inventory Project.
