Carbon in the North Atlantic

During the 1990s a team of U.S. researchers collected data that resulted from the carbon survey program of that decade, subjected them to strict quality control procedures and released discrete data records and mapped parameter fields known as GLODAPv1.1. While it has proven extremely valuable for both data analysis and model comparison , GLODAPv1.1 had a major shortcoming in that significant ocean areas such as marginal seas had no data data. This project will synthesize in a manner similar to that used for GLODAP new data from the on-going repeat hydrography program as well as those originating from the European geochemical community to fill the GLODAP data gap in the far North Atlantic and part of the Arctic. This new data set will be called CARINA and will eventually be merged into the existing GLODAPv1.1 collection.
